The 6 Best Ultra-Light Mice (3)

Ultra-light mice have gained popularity over the past couple of years, with many companies responding with some impressively light mice. While they’re typically marketed towards gamers, we’ve hit a point where there are enough of these mice on the market that there’s sure to be one that matches your functional and aesthetic preferences.

So, we sorted through these mice and came out with the best of the best, whether it’s for gaming, working, or web surfing.

Update, 1/25/22: Verified content and links are still up to date. Swapped out the G-Wolves pick for a similar one from HK Gaming.

What You Need to Know About Ultra-Light Mice

Before we get started, there are a few points we want to cover here about ultra-light mice in general.

  • Weight:Obviously, this is the most important deciding point. We placed our cut-off point of “what is an ultra-light mouse” at 80 grams. We will note in every section how heavy each mouse is.
  • Shape:Making sure you like the shape of your mice is crucial. It could be uncomfortable to use for longer periods if the shape doesn’t match up with how you use your mouse. What hand you use your mouse with is the first thing you should consider. Mice can be shaped to fit the right or left hand specifically or can use an ambidextrous design so that it’s comfortable to hold with either hand. All the mice on this list are either right-handed or ambidextrous. We also recommend looking at as many pictures as possible of any mouse you’re interested in, so you can get a good idea of the shape.
  • Ease of Movement: Ultra-light mice will already be easier to move, but there are a couple of additional ways manufacturers can make movement feel even better.Mouse feet are the little pads stuck to the bottom of your mousethatallow it to move smoothly across your mouse pad. When it comes to these, the smoother the better. The cord should also be noted, as many mice now have “ultra-flexible” cords which, as the name implies, aren’t as stiff as normal cords and are easier to move around.
  • Additional Features:Features like being able to easily reprogram your mouse’s buttons, RGB lighting, or stuff like skins and grips included in the box aren’t vital to have, but they are nice bonuses and will be noted as such.
  • Out of the Box:Finally, we did want to make it clear we are talking about these mice as they are out of the box; we are not taking into account any after-market mods.

With all that out of the way, let’s talk about the best ultra-light mice on the market today.

A Line with Options: Razer Viper Mice

The 6 Best Ultra-Light Mice (4)

The Vipers are a line of lightweight gaming mice Razer has been expanding on over the past year. The line includes three mice: the Viper, the Viper Ultimate, and the recently released Viper Mini.

(Video) The Best Lightweight Gaming Mice of 2021..SO FAR!

The Viper is a fairly standard gaming mouse with two thumb buttons on each side, it’s wired and weighs 69 grams. The Viper Ultimate is wireless and only weighs 74 grams, making it one of the lightest wireless mice on the market. Besides cutting the cord, the Viper Ultimate is nearly identical to the standard Viper. It does have a different sensor compared to the Viper though, which boosts the 16,000 max DPI of the Viper to 20,000 on the Viper Ultimate.

The Viper Mini is the lightest of the bunch at 61 grams and has a cord to achieve that. As the name suggests, the Mini is not as long or wide as the Viper and Viper Ultimate, but it does have a taller back bump. The Viper Mini also has a small strip of LED lights on the bottom of the mouse, which can be customized in Razer Synapse. Compared to the standard Viper and Viper Ultimate, the Mini is lacking the two thumb buttons on the right side but keeps the two on the left side.

All three mice use the same optical mouse switches, which are faster and more accurate than the standard mechanical switches found on most mice. Each button on the mice can also be reprogrammed using Razer Synapse.

The Lightest Around: FinalMouse Ultralight 2

The 6 Best Ultra-Light Mice (6)

If getting the lightest mouse possible is your aim, the Ultralight 2 is the one for you at a measly 47 grams. The Ultralight’s shell features the popular honeycomb design you find on a lot of lightweight mice. This design allows for a lot of weight to be removed from the mouse, without compromising the structural integrity of the chassis.

Despite how light it is, the Ultralight 2 will still feel solid in the hand thanks to the composite material it is made out of. Some do find the material of the Ultralight 2 to be too grainy feeling, but thankfully, this can be solved with the included Infinityskin pack. These skins feel nicer to the touch and can be used to adjust the size and shape of the mouse more to your liking. Skins like these would typically have to be purchased aftermarket for most mice, so it’s nice to have them included in the box here.

There are a couple of things you need to be aware of with this mouse though. First off, the colors. While the white and orange color combo the mouse uses looks great, it’s not exactly neutral. There have been a couple oflimited-time variants of the mouse made, but those are even harder to get your hands on than the normal mouse. Speaking of which, the second thing you need to know is that the Ultralight 2 can be out of stock a lot of the time, so if you’re interested you may have to wait a bit.

But if those problems don’t turn you away, and the relatively high price isn’t a problem for you, the Ultralight 2 is a great mouse for those who need the lightest option.

Lightest for Less:Cooler Master MM710

The 6 Best Ultra-Light Mice (8)

Much like the Ultralight 2, the MM710 also aims to cut off as much weight as possible (it weighs 53 grams) but with a more affordable price tag. The MM710 is a pretty simple mouse with its ambidextrous design and two thumb buttons on the left side. The cord is ultra flexible and the mouse feet are very smooth.

You could also go with the MM711, which is nearly identical to the MM710 but is white, has RGB lighting, and weighs 60 grams.

Light and Wireless: Logitech G Pro Wireless

The 6 Best Ultra-Light Mice (10)

When it comes to lightweight wireless mice, you don’t have many options. A wireless mouse will always be heavier than a wired onebecause it has batteries. But there are still a few good options out there, such as the Logitech G Pro Wireless weighing in at 80 grams.

Aside from its low weight, the G Pro Wireless is pretty standard. It has an ambidextrous design with two thumb buttons on each side. It also has a little compartment under the mouse that can store the USB dongle, which uses Logitech’s low-latency “Lightspeed Wireless” tech, so it’s still well-suited for gaming.

You do have a little bit of RGB lighting with the “G” logo on the top of the mouse, which can be customized in the easy-to-use Logitech G Hub program.

Beautiful RGB: Glorious PC Model O Gaming Mouse

The 6 Best Ultra-Light Mice (12)

For the RGB lovers, the Glorious PC Model O should satisfy your lighting desires. There are a couple of strips of LED lights that go along the sides of the mouse and the scroll wheel. You can customize this lighting with the use of Glorious’ software, but you can also do it on the mouse itself as well.

Besides that, the mouse has an ambidextrous design with two thumb buttons on the left side, an ultra-flexible cable, and comes pre-equipped with Glorious’ “G-Skates” or ultra-smooth mouse feet.

There are a few different models of the Model O. You have the standard Model O, which weighs 67 grams, and you have the Model O-, which is slightly shorter and skinnier than the normal Model O and weighs 58 grams. You could also get the Model D, which is longer and thicker, weighs 68 grams, and uses a right-handed design.

Plenty of Color Options: HK Gaming Mira-S Ultra Lightweight

The 6 Best Ultra-Light Mice (14)

The HK Gaming Mira-S Ultra Lightweight is another standard ultra-light mouse weighing 61 grams. It has an ambidextrous design (thoughts it’s optimized for right-handed use) with two thumb buttons on the left side and uses the honeycomb design for the shell. It comes with spare anti-slip grips, a dust cover, and mouse skates, which is nice to see. It’s also packing an IP68 rating, a max resolution up to 12,000 CPI, has a max acceleration of 50G and max speed of 250 IPS, and uses an Omron Micro Switch (50M) for the main switch. You can also adjust the polling rate anywhere from 125-1,000Hz.

The main reason to consider the HK Gaming is the color options. There are ten different colors to choose from—black, black & orange, blue phantom, blue serenity, lavender, metallic blue, monza, rose quartz, white, and bumblebee (pictured above)—which is far more than most mice have. It’s also available in both small and medium sizes.

While it’s not a functional feature, it is nice to see for those that care about having a unified setup color-wise or just want a cool and unique-looking mouse.
