  NO TECH CLASS! no laptops or phones out at any time. very knowledgeable professor with tons of life experience. the class is 90% lecture with little participation, and 10% essays with very philosophical instruction. if you like long lecture classes and prefer taking notes on paper, I highly recommend this class!

  While he does lecture heavily, his lectures are very informative and insightful. He assigned 3 papers the entire semester which was 3-5 pages. The workload was insanely light but make sure that the essays weren't written the night before and were instead taken seriously. Overall, it was a good class.

  The most boring class ive ever taken. Would not recommend. Dr. Lichten is very set in his beliefs and is often off topic. He doesnt stick to the syllabus. Could not tell you one thing I learned from his class. There were no exams, but 4 papers. So if youre a great essay writer then youre set, otherwise skip this class. No Hw either.

  The point of his classes is view the world objectively and examine it more deeply. If you put in effort, he'll give you an A. There were ppl in my class who disagreed with his views, but they still had civil and intellectual discussions that were really fun to participate in. He talks to you like a peer and respects all students and their views!

  One of the worst classes I have ever taken! Boring lectures that have little to no connection to the class or the assignments that are given. Not accommodating to student athletes. Has a trick attendance system (gives you absences but you get points taken off if you miss). Dont even think about coming in late or leaving early or you will fail.

  He is a liberal and so am I, so I thought I'd like him more. However, you don't actually learn anything in this class. I've finished a couple seasons of Netflix shows sitting here not learning anything. He goes on and on about a book you're supposed to read, but no one does unless it's for 1 of his 2 papers. The way he grades will make you cry. RUN

  Dr. Lichten is a great professor. Not a lot of HW, two take home papers, first one is difficult than the second one (the final). He always is open for students to see him during office hours. One thing is that it may be difficult to take notes in this class since it's a lecture. Overall, take him and I'll have him again for Social Change.

  If you are the typical closed-minded Post student, no wonder why you'll hate him. These powerful ideas go against the establishment of ignorance which so many students here take for granted and choose to live in. Instead, this course opens up a world of brilliant ideas for remedying society's ills. Superb course.

  I thought this class was superb. That being said, Prof. Lichten is extremely liberal which will not always jive with the student body here. But for those who are dreamers who are not content with society's ills, this is pure euphoria.

  Lichten's classes are extremely lecture heavy, he goes off-topic a lot, and he is very, very fixed in his opinions and beliefs. However, while it may be boring it is an extremely easy class if you pay attention. Never assigns homework. Usually about 2 exams, maybe a paper. Just know the material for the exams and it's an easy A!

  Lichten is an excellent professor who will open your eyes to look at social conflicts and society in a whole different light. I was enthralled by the topics and discussions we had in class, and would recommend anyone who needs to fulfill a sociology requirement, or just wants to take some classes in this field, to have Professor Lichten. 55!

  Really not clear, rambles and then when the mid term and final come around I find I have to teach myself the content.. After a half a semester I had nothing useful note wise no definitions nothing. If you like just having a mid term and a final and don't mind putting in 8 hours looking everything up the night before take him.
