Debbie Matenopoulos, one of the original co-hosts of “The View,”stated on an episode of the “Allison Interviews”podcast that the ABC daytime show was never “supposed to be political.”

Matenopoulos, then 22, was named as a co-host of the then-fledgling talk show steered by Barbara Walters when it launched in 1997, with the idea being that the panel was supposed to have a “fun conversation.”

“It was just meant to be, like, ‘Here’s your mom, your grandmother, your aunt, your cousin, your sister, and your young sister all sitting there chatting about the same topic, but they’re all going to have different ideas because they are coming from different generations and different backgrounds,” Matenopoulos said.

“That was just it — just have, like, a fun conversation and see where it comes out, and for all of us to learn from one another.”

Furthermore, Matenopoulos took a small knock at how “The View” has evolved over the years, with liberal and conservative co-hosts making headlines for clashes.

“I am not a person that likes to fight. I’m not a person that likes to make other people feel uncomfortable,” Matenopoulos said.

“I’m not a person that likes to debate, just for the sake of debating. And that’s kind of what that show had become. You were debating — but it wasn’t like that at the beginning.”

Lisa Ling replaced Matenopoulos on “The View” in 1999.

CNN anchor John Avlon is calling for other media members to cover a story from Brigham Young University with the same “intensity” after allegations that fans hurled racial slurs at Duke volleyball players no evidence has been found to backup the claims.

During a segment Avlon called “Upon Further Review”, he noted the story leapt to the “outrage Olympics” after Rachel Richardson, a volleyball player at Duke, said she and other black athletes were the attacked with racial epithets during a match last month. Avlon pointed out his own network, CNN, was a purveyor of the unsubstantiated story.

“Fidelity to the facts is all that we as journalists and citizens should ask,” said Avlon. “It’s understandable that there’s a desire to believe people when they say they’ve been victimized, but the accusations have to be backed up by facts and when the facts don’t fit upon further review, we need to set the record straight with as much intensity as the initial reports.”

He also added the Richardson family has stopped responding to requests for comment from CNN, while noting the statement from BYU doesn’t label her as a liar or fabricator.

“Healthy skepticism is always a virtue, but this doesn’t read like a coverup,” Avlon said. “Instead, it feels like there was a rush to judgment because of a well-intentioned impulse to believe the Duke player’s accusations.”

CNN continues to shift their focus back to a strictly news gathering and reporting organization, which continues to catch the attention of liberal podcaster Keith Olbermann, with host Jake Tapper his latest target.

During his Countdown with Keith Olbermann podcast Monday, the former cable news host called out Tapper for take on how President Biden should handle former President Donald Trump’s participation in the United States’ representation at Queen Elizabeth II’s upcoming funeral.

Olbermann first took his latest shot at CNN CEO Chris Licht, reiterating his claim that when the pair worked together at MSNBC he thought Licht “ate paste”, before turning his attention to Tapper.

“Jake Tapper indicated he is going along with the Licht/(John) Malone conversion of CNN into Fox News — with nicer looking studios — by suggesting President Biden should invited Donald Trump — while he is under investigation for international nuclear weapon espionage crimes against this country — to join the American delegation to the funeral of Queen Elizabeth. Tapper also defended CNN’s sketchy legal analyst Elie Honig by launching an on-air attack on MSNBC. ‘A bunch of MSNBC legal commentators attacked you. Have they apologized at all? Have they acknowledged that they were wrong and you were right?'”

Olbermann was flabbergasted at the insinuation from Tapper that apologies needed to be exchanged between the two outlets, noting he felt entitled to apologies from CNN for his opinions on topics from the late 2000s.

“Oh my god, Jake. Are we gonna do CNN/MSNBC apologies now? How many do you guys owe me just over the Iraq war? Like 50? Terrorism another 75 or 100? And Jake, more importantly, did you kiss enough conservative ass this week?”

Tapper was awarded the title of “Worst Person in the World” from Olbermann during the podcast.

In the wake of Queen Elizabeth II’s death, Fox Nation’s Piers Morgan stated that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle should be stripped of their royal titles.

Morgan appeared on Friday’s edition of Fox News’ “The Five,” he was asked to decipher King Charles III’s remarks regarding Harry and Markle continuing “to build their lives overseas.”

The Fox Nation host suggested that the comments made by Charles are a sign of him “getting a bit fed up with this rival royal family based in California, spray gunning the royals and the monarchy whenever it suits him for huge personal enrichment from companies like Netflix and Spotify.”

According to Morgan, Charles’ younger son didn’t stick around for breakfast with his family or even say hello to his estranged older brother.

“I’m seeing no sign other than it’s gotten a lot worse,” Morgan added. “Charles is distraught. He’s incredibly hurt by what’s been happening with his son and his daughter-in-law.

“And so he’s putting all his chips on William. And I think it’s the right thing to do. If I were him, I’d go further. I would strip Meghan and Harry of all their titles, period. Done. Take them away.”
